RAMADAN SPECIAL:- 4 Important Eating Habits You Must Practice This Ramadan (No. 2 Can Save You From Chronic Diseases)
Apart from the spiritual blessings that come with Ramadan fasting, there are also health benefits attached to fasting in this period.
As a Muslim, if you cultivate the right eating habit in this period, you will not only receive heavenly blessings from Allah, your body system will also be well purified to make you more healthy.
Ramadan, the period when Muslims observe their annual fasting is here and it’s still ongoing but our question for you is;
Have you been maintaining the right eating habits this Ramadan?
Well, you’d have to read this to the end to know.
Below Are 4 Eating Habits You Should Practice This Ramadan:-
1. Do Not Eat Too Little During Your Eating Window
Ghrelin is a hunger hormone that signals you to eat.
When you don’t eat enough, you’re not able to shut off this hormone, so you’ll continue to feel hungry.
It’s important to eat until you’re satisfied. Do not take little food.
Try as much as possible to eat during the window. This isn’t the time to be taking golden morn, eat good food, and balance well.
2. Do Not Eat A High Carbohydrate Diet
Eating a high carbohydrate diet can lead to insulin resistance, which will defeat the purpose of bringing your insulin levels down during an extended fast.
Insulin resistance is when cells in your muscles, body fat, and liver start resisting or ignoring the signal to transfer glucose from our bloodstream to our cells.
This leaves excess sugar in your bloodstream, which can lead to chronic health conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Avoid unhealthy high carb foods such as processed Cereal, Canned Fruit, Doughnuts, Soda, Potato or Corn Chips.
3. Do Not Drink Alcohol During Your Fasting Period
Just because alcohol is a liquid doesn’t mean it you can use it to replace water in this fasting period.
Alcohol is forbidden during fasting and it has been shown to slow the breakdown of fat.
Heavy drinking has been linked to weight gain and obesity. It’s best to keep away from alcohol consumption at this time so your body can enjoy the health benefit of fasting.
4. Don’t Party Or Feast To Break Your Fast
It can be tempting after a period of restriction to celebrate by eating a huge meal during iftar.
However, you might need to eat with some sense. Breaking your fast with a party or feast could leave you feeling bloated and tired.
Additionally, feasting may harm your long-term goals by slowing down or halting your weight loss because your overall calorie quota impacts your weight.
Consuming excessive calories after a fast will reduce your calorie deficit.
The best way to break a fast is to continue eating normally and get back into your regular eating routine
The End!!
May Allah accept our fasting as an act of worship.
