DESPICABLE MOMENT OF MALADY BY OGBOMOSO OKADA RIDERS (OLOKADAS)

 

On Thursday, 9th December 2021, an accident occurred in the afternoon along the school Main Gate. The accident involves a student of the prestigious institution of LAUTECH who owns a car and Two commercial bikers (Olokada as popularly called).

The student took the victims of the accident to the hospital immediately after the incident, paid for the treatment of the victims as a Good Samaritan should, and also reported to the nearest police station at Sabo.

However, the Okada Riders decided to take law into their own hands. They first insisted that the Car should be towed away by Police and asked them to leave that they will settle it amicably. Afterward, they attacked the Student Union Body and representatives, including the Student Union President present at the scene. The Okada Riders attacked and assaulted the other parties by throwing stones and other hard objects they could lay their hands on. To execute their evil acts, the Okada Riders towed the student’s car away and backed it up with a lie that the car was being taken to the King’s palace at Soun. Unfortunately, they took the car to another place and called for reinforcement, they demolished the car (visual evidence is available), and to make the matter worst they burnt the car to ashes.

The Okada riders and their association has failed bitterly to acknowledge the fact that LAUTECH and LAUTECH students play a pivotal role in their lives by giving them a source of income and assisting them to meet up with financial demands. The unfortunate incident and the violent reaction from the Okada riders are heartbreaking and justice must be served.

The Student Union has hereby issued a quit notice to the Okada association and all their units around LAUTECH, this quit notice must be strictly adhered to and also the incident has been reported and tabled with the appropriate security operatives in Oyo State.

On a final note, the Okada riders association must provide a New Car, the exact brand as the one destroyed, the car’s worth has been estimated to be about #4million (Four Million Naira). This demand must be met and the new car must be provided without further ado or delay.

We are agents of peace and we preach peace both in our ways and actions, in an attempt to therefore avoid violence as a result of this unfortunate incident, the Okada Riders and their association should strictly adhere to every instruction given to them.
